IGUANA Collaborative was founded in 1976 by three artists originally from Detroit, Sherry Erskine and Bonnie Sue Stein, with John Erskine. IGUANA creates hybrid [analog/digital] interdisciplinary works utilizing lens-based media, performance, installation and sound art. They are denizens of the new & unusual, itching to ‘make-a-mark’ across borders and social definitions.

RELAY–DELAY Series
RELAY–DELAY is a series of banners, photographs and short videos which began in January 2021.
In RELAY–DELAY Epilogue: Drift [Prague] and Rift [Lake Michigan], Stein + Erskine continued corresponding through summer and fall.
Bonnie Sue Stein and Sherry Erskine [IGUANA Collaborative] used a penpal structure across 800 miles to investigate the isolation, normalcy and the restorative properties of walking and resting in nature during late quarantine. Contemplating human interconnectedness, they corresponded with short performative video postcards, layered digital images and minimal soundtracks. Wrapped in fabric, their body forms become a canvas for musing during a dark winter and hopeful spring.
With banners installed in public spaces, Erskine + Stein aim to engage the public in actively viewing photography. Each image has a unique QR code to a corresponding short video on YouTube to ‘bring the photo to life.’
