“WE THE PEOPLE” is an ongoing series of portraits based on vintage photos of both native and immigrant Americans, highlighting the history of diversity of the people of the United States. All paintings are painted with acrylic paint on Kraft paper found outside of the Shmura Matzo Bakery in Brooklyn, with irregular edges. The actual portrait size is 17 x 22″. The original photos are partially by well known photographers like Augustus Sherman, Lewis Hine and Edward S. Curtis, but also from people’s private collections. If you would like to have a portrait of your family included in this project, please contact the artist. The body of work is available for exhibition, with the size of the installation variable.
