The original HAMLET was produced in October 1997 in New York City with support from The Vineyard Theater’s S.P.A.C.E. (Space for Promising Artists to Create and Explore) Fund. The production toured to Bursa, Turkey in 2000; and in 2004 the show was presented at Prague Castle, Czech Republic, as part of the Prague Summer Shakespeare Festival. The concept for using a carousel emerged from discussions between director Vít Hořejš and designer, Roman Hladik, as representation of the whirling realities of the play. In 2007, HAMLET was performed on an antique 1922 carousel in Brooklyn, NY. The New York artist, Jane Walentas lead the restoration of the antique carousel and graciously loaned it for the 2007 production.
Four performances will be presented by Busan Performing Arts Festival, in South Korea.
